What is Diwali, really?

Diwali is a Hindu festival of lights, celebrating Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya (his home) after 14 years of exile (a whole lot of Hindu lore to unpack here, but we’ll save that for another day).

That’s the traditional story behind it, but at its heart, Diwali is about light over darkness, good over evil, and finding hope and faith again.

Think glowing diyas (little oil lamps), an unreasonable amount of sweets, everyone dressing to impress, endless poker games, and drinks that keep flowing.

However you celebrate, I’m just glad we get to bring a little light into each other’s lives. 🫂
